Most of the 6 million smallholder cacao farmers worldwide are marginalized, receive low prices for their hard work and suffer from power imbalances in the value chain. Although farmers are a fundamental part of chocolate making, they cannot make a prosperous living out of their work, neither are they incentivized to sustainably grow, harvest, and produce high-quality cacao beans.
In 2015, Eric, Christoph and 36 cacao farmers from the Huayabamba valley became determined to pilot an alternative to a self-destructive industry, They founded Choba Choba, the first Swiss Chocolate brand co-owned by cacao farmers.

In 2015, Choba Choba emerged from the dynamic collaboration between cacao farmers and a community bound by the unwavering belief that transformation within the chocolate industry is both possible and essential.
This symbiotic partnership fuels Choba Choba's enduring power to reshape the chocolate landscape profoundly. And to firmly anchor this enduring spirit of collaboration, we extended a sincere invitation to our community in both 2020 and 2021. Our aim was to warmly welcome them into the heart of Choba Choba through a successful crowdfunded campaign.

devoted farmers and enthusiastic chocolate lovers. Aligned by a shared vision, we remain steadfast in our commitment to bring embody a positive change in the chocolate world.
