Christian Hümbs & our collaboration

In spring 2023, Christian Hümbs, Christoph Inauen, and Samuel Bourin met at Christian's former location in Zurich, "The Studio," to discuss their shared passion for chocolate. And from this acquaintance arose a passionate partnership, which is kicking off its first round these days.

Who is Christian Hümbs?

Originally aspiring to be a plasterer, Christian decided to pursue a pastry apprenticeship followed by culinary training due to health reasons. His career began at Stromburg with Johann Lafer and then took him to Louis C. Jacob in Hamburg, where he became a renowned pastry chef. He further honed his skills under Sven Elverfeld at Aqua in The Ritz Carlton in Wolfsburg. He then moved to Sylt, where he developed his own dessert art with vegetable accents. Hamburg eventually became his favorite city, where he worked as the pastry chef at the Vier Jahreszeiten Hotel's Herlin restaurant. Between 2017 and 2019, he worked at the Atelier restaurant in the Bayerischer Hof Hotel in Munich, alongside his close friend Jan Hartwig as the head chef. He currently lives and works in Zurich. Since 2013, Hümbs has also been a jury member on the well-known baking show "Das große Backen" on SAT.1.
